Oak Island, North Carolina is a beach town in the northeast of Brunswick County. Oak Island, commonly OKI, is located on a barrier island shared with the historic civil war era Fort Caswell and Caswell Beach. In addition to Fort Caswell, the island is also home to the Oak Island lighthouse since 1958. Golf is central to history and life on Oak Island. The beach has had heavy erosion over the years due to hurricanes hitting it’s shores.
