For many local families, mine included, the Shallotte NC Christmas parade is a yearly tradition that really kicks off the holiday season. This year was no different, there was a huge turnout with thousands of people lining the streets to watch the annual event!
Shallotte NC Christmas parade highlights
It was a great turnout. Local businesses decorated their cars, trucks, and trailers and threw out candy to people in the street. West Brunswick High School marching band sounded awesome while putting on a great show with the flag team.
Several local dance companies danced in the streets to show their cheer, including Shoreline Dance Company and Brunswick School of Dance. They all did fantastically!
Greyhound Friends of North Carolina brought out some adorable greyhounds dressed up as reindeer which was definitely a crowd favorite!
Shallotte, NC mayor Walt Eccard and his wife also made an appearance riding in a classic car with several other classic car beauties following. Classic cars had decorated with bows and lights to hand out candy and spread cheer.
Several local bike clubs showed off their holiday spirit by decorating their motorcycles with bows.
Holden Beach Tiki Cruisin’ made an epic float with a huge volcano, ferns, and a hula dancer which was one of my personal favorites from the day! The weather was almost 80 degrees and after seeing their float it made me want to go hang out at the beach. I was really impressed with their display and my kids loved it.
Holden Beach RV Campground rode in on their iconic yellow trolly which has quickly gained popularity as a way to get to the beach in style.
Sunset Beach police department had an alligator float which is fitting for how many gators are in the area! This past October, Sunset Beach police wrangled a 9-foot alligator out of a local neighborhood after it was seen strolling the streets and even trying to take a dip in the pool!
The Sudan Daredevils are always fun to watch. They ride around on their carts over a ramp that is built on top of an SUV. I can’t remember a Shallotte NC Christmas parade that they weren’t in and I always look forward to watching them do their tricks! Kids love it too!
So many local businesses and organizations came together to walk down Main St in Shallotte, NC to pass out candy and spread holiday cheer! As always it was a lot of fun and I’m glad so many families were able to come out and enjoy it. I am looking forward to next year’s annual Shallotte NC Christmas parade!
