Saturday, December 4th

For many local families, mine included, the Shallotte Christmas parade is a yearly tradition that really kicks off the holiday season. This year was no different, there was a huge turnout with thousands of people lining the streets to watch the annual event!

It was a great turnout. Local businesses decorated their cars, trucks, and trailers and threw out candy to people in the street. West Brunswick High School marching band put on a great show, dancers from local companies performed, greyhounds dressed up as reindeer, and many others walked Main St. in Shallotte to bring in the holiday season! Shallotte, NC mayor Walt Eccard and his wife also made an appearance riding in a classic car with several other classic car beauties following. Bike clubs showed off their holiday spirit. Holden Beach Tiki Cruisin’ made an epic float with a volcano and a hula dancer which was one of my personal favorites from the day! Holden Beach RV Campground rode in on their iconic yellow trolly which has quickly gained popularity as a way to get to the beach in style. Sunset Beach police department had a crocodile float which is fitting for how many crocs are in the area! Shallotte police department and Civietown fire/rescue showed up to celebrate and bring some holiday cheer. It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to next year’s annual Shallotte Christmas parade!
